The pop-up menu
When it is running, the ticker places an icon in the 'sys-tray' of your PC (on the right of your task-bar). Right-click or double-click on this icon to change settings for the Reuters Desktop Ticker.
Set News Preferences
Click on the ‘down arrow’ symbol at the far right of the Reuters Desktop Ticker to open the settings pop-up menu, click on the 'set news preferences...' option. This will load a news preferences box on the right hand side, above your desktop ticker. From this feature you will be able to set the type of news you would like your desktop ticker to display. With your mouse, simply click on the news topic you want from the left hand options (e.g. 'Entertainment' or 'Sports') and the topic will be highlighted green. Then click on the 'add selected' button and your category will move to the 'you have chosen' section on the right hand side. You can amend the number of articles you wish to be displayed in each category of the ticker by selecting from '01-10' in the dropdown menu next to the category name.
To remove a category, highlight the name from the right hand options and click 'remove selected'. Click 'remove all' to clear all your chosen options. You can prioritise categories by clicking the 'move up' and 'move down' buttons when the category is highlighted in the right hand menu, as a result the category at the top will display first and the second, next and so on…
When you have finished adding you chosen topics click save to finalise and exit the news preferences menu or cancel to revert back to your previous options.
